TimeBanking is an alternative economy where members offer their services to others in exchange for hours.  These earned hours can be used to enlist the service of anyone in the TimeBank, whether or not you’ve done a service for them personally.  

So for example; you may be a skilled audio technician, you can offer your services setting up audio equipment.  For each hour you work for someone you are credited with that time.  You can then use those hours to enlist someone to fix your car, clean your basement, file your taxes, run your event, set up your website, babysit for you, pick up litter, whatever people are willing to offer.  

TimeBanking is a great solution for a number of situations on many levels.  It gives you an opportunity to better know the skills and talents of those in your community.  It provides an excellent way to give back to those who would otherwise be volunteering.  It allows organizations such as CEL to recruit much needed help without pressure to campaign for funds before work can be started.  And it puts everyones time as an equal value, in that way we are all equally important members of our community with our own skills and talents to contribute.  

Mission Statement

The Creative Exchange Timebank exists to promote mutuality and peer to peer relationships between citizens and professionals of St. Louis through non-monetary exchanges. By the use of time as a currency all members contributions are valued equally as we all play a vital roll in sustaining and developing our city. Members are encouraged to promote and develop there skills in creative situations and to find value in members of the community that may have been a cost prohibitive investment before the use of a timebank. Through voluntary exchange and equal value all members have something to contribute, regardless of age, race, profession, religion or financial situation.

To join in to the Creative Exchange Timebank just click the link and in the log in section create new user.  From there you will be able to customize your profile so that other members can see what area you live in, what services you are offering and requesting, and when your availability is.  We encourage members to post their service ads early and often.  To do that you will use the tabs at the upper right hand of your screen within the timebank.  You can post as many ads as you like and of course, each service transaction is negotiated independently by the users involved, so services are rendered on a case by case basis  between individuals.  

And of course start trading your hours! The key to a healthy monetary free economy is people trading early and often!  Happy Banking!
