Lunch + Talk Buckminster Fuller’s Geodesic Domes

CEL – Center for Architecture+Design StL hosts an RSVP-only Lunch + Talk with the daughter and granddaughter of the American visionary architect, inventor of the geodesic dome, Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller (1895-1983) on Saturday, Nov 10, 2018. Fuller’s daughter, Allegra Fuller Snyder, will read from her father’s essay Geoview, written for the inauguration of the Fuller Dome at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). There will also be a presentation on the construction of another Fuller geodesic dome, the Climatron at Missouri Botanical Garden.
This event is part of a “Bucky Weekend” honoring Fuller’s legacy in the region, organized by SIUE’s Center for Spirituality and Sustainability. It begins Friday with an exhibition of Fuller’s work at the new Fuller Dome Gallery, a Fuller-designed geodesic dome on the SIUE campus and continues on Saturday with an all-day architectural tour of Fuller-related structures in the St. Louis area.
